This is going to be a slightly different post from the typical thing here. Basically just some photos and a short story about a visit to Arrowood Farm Brewery while on a weekend getaway. So here we go! Located in Accord, NY on a beautiful piece of land sits Arrowood Farms.
The Farm
I happened to be visiting the area and reached out to Arrowood Farms to see if they’d be interested in an interview in a more official capacity, to fully capture their story, possibly with some video… but never received a reply. However, that didn’t stop me from swinging by to check out their operation on my own terms, to taste some beer and see what the operation and experience would be like. Here are some photos around the property shortly after their hop harvest.
From what I learned, they’re running a solar powered 3 barrel brewhouse, growing their own hops, keeping bees, and working off of their land and using NYS ingredients as much as they possibly can, both in part because they are a farm brewery and state law requires that percentage, but also because they’re an actual farm. Duh. It looks like they’ve got primarily hops for now, but are looking to grow some grain eventually.
The Hops
Here’s a fun panoramic shot of their freshly picked and almost totally barren hop farm.
No, not the bees!
Can never pass up a good Nick Cage reference as cheesy as they are.
The Beer
They’re crafting seasonally focused styles that are typically always in rotation, without approximately 10 on draft at a time. To keep your stomach happy, they’ve got some food trucks for eats so that you’re always ready to enjoy more beer. During my visit there were two trucks, Lekker (as pictured, which serves American Food) and a Greek/Mediterranean truck — can’t recall the name, but did get a gyro with Greek fries for dinner – pictured below.
Overall this was a fun experience on a nice large piece of property. If I lived nearby and didn’t have to drive to/from, I’d definitely like to make this place a regular stomping ground for relaxing good times.
They also sell their own sunflower oil, cool right?
Want to know more about the brewery? I’m guessing you can find all you need on their website and calendar (for events, concerts, etc)
